ITALIAN/SWITZERLAND FILM NIGHT OCTOBER 2013 IN ABUJA



Still stepping back into the 'Grande' events that made the end of 2013 exciting and colourful, we enjoyed a 'Bella' night Italian and Swiss-Style. The Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Roberto Colamine and the Ambassador of Switzerland, H.E. Hans-Rudolf  hodel, co-hosted a film-showing followed by a buffet dinner to celebrate Italian language Serata della lingua Italiana” under the patronage of the president of the Italian Republic at the swiss residence in Abuja on Tuesday, 15th  October  2013 at 6.00 p.m.

 The 108 minutes Italian-swiss movie entitled 11 Commandante e la cicogna(The commander and the stork) was very hilarious and features Italian and Swiss film stars. most Italian and Swiss spectators at the film show where happy with the efforts put together by the two embassy to complement the nolstagic moments they are having in Nigeria.

Held at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers Abuja on Sunday, 15th December, 2013, Nigerian Actors with likes of Yul Edochie, Desmond Elliot, Collette Orji ,Ghanaian actors such as Van Vicker, Jackie Appiah, Prince David Osei, Martha Ankomah also received awards over the weekend at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards (PAMSAA).

ABUJA BASKETBALL CLASSICS 2013


The 2013 edition of the Abuja Basketball Classics has come and gone. The event attracted 20 teams from all parts of the country.This year’s edition saw teams from Lagos, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Edo, Plateau and Kaduna participate.
 At the end of the classics, The Fantastic-4 from Abuja emerged champions. A Few Good Men from Jos finished runners-up, while The Rich Gang settled for second runners-up.
the first prize for the competition is 300,000 naira cash, while N200,000 and N100,000 was presented to the second and third placed teams respectively.
Other cash prizes and trophies were presented to the male and female Most Valuable Players, Highest Scorers and Highest Rebounders.
The two-day competition began on Friday. Notable dignitaries spotted at the classics include the FCT Sports Council Director, Mohammed Alim Bello and the Basketball For Peace (BB4P) Programme Manager, Coach Oliver B. Johnson.

MISS AMBASSADORS OF PEACE ORGANIZERS AWARDS AMBASSADOR OYIBODE


Ambassador Gabriel Oyibode was reciprocated with an award of GRAND PATRON OF PEACE, by the organizers of Miss Ambassadors of peace. The award which took place in Abuja was a grand event that had in presence many

ambassadors of peace in Nigeria.


 
Ambassador Oyibode is adjudged to be hardworking and committed towards promoting peace in Nigeria . As a real estate consultant / business man, he is known for his philanthropic and jovial gestures. His exceptional love for peace is obvious in his relationship with people.

SPANISH EMBASSY WEEK IN ABUJA 2013

 

HOLA!!! TE' QUEIRO "I wish that I was in your arms like a Spanish Guitar..." These was a favorite line of mine from the lips of popular R&B singer Toni Braxton. That is why I got all giddy and expectant when the Spanish Cultural week was in view. Gracias Senor and Senorita for coming by here. Below are a bit out of what we enjoyed during the exotic and colorful week...

Very interesting drama presentation- Spanish Play acted by Nigerians
The annual Spanish cultural week in a usual manner added live to the capital city.  Monday 7th October 2013 being the day one(1) of the cultural week started with visual art exhibition and ended with a live performance of the spanish play titled “The shoemaker’s wonderful wife”. Written by Federico Garcia Lorca performed by Jos repertory theatre at the lagos room of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
All the week's events were well attended


 

His excellency Alvaro Castillo Aguillar, Ambassador of spain to Nigeria (third-centre)



 On the second(2) day of the event, it kicked off with an Awards ceremony of visuals arts competition. Mr Micheal Onoto Ikoyi emerged the winner with the reward of an all expense paid trip to Spain. He will also witness their arts festival. Second place went to Mr Sor Sen displaying his work and the third place to Mr Femi Tunde Durotimi.

His excellency Alvaro Castillo Aguillar is the Ambassador of Spain to Nigeria, Miss Eva Barta Martin is the cultural advicer embassy of Spain and Mr Guillaume Monfort is the deputy head of mission alongside the sponsors and collaborators to Ambassador made the annual event possible since its inception in 2006. The audience present at the event termed it to be highly entertaining, informative and educational in nature. The event showcased the rich culture of Spain and as it spans centuries of tradition and across the different regions of the country.
